Composer
Machelle (Mache) Seibel’s music career began in High School performing and writing songs with his band The Crests. Then as a medical resident he wrote catchy songs to teach procedures and treatments to medical students. In 2003 Dr. Seibel founded HealthRock®, an award winning health edutainment company, to increase health literacy and bring about positive behavior surrounding important health issues. Seibel’s HealthRock songs, animations and music videos have been played and performed on national radio and television, at schools, museums, meetings, launches and cabarets. He was invited by Boston’s Mayor Menino’s Hip Hop Roundtable to lead a workshop on the use of music for positive messaging at Boston’s 2006 Hip Hop festival, and to write and perform the Healthy Halloween theme song for HealthCorps, the youth organization founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz to combat childhood obesity. Dr. Seibel’s songs are used to educate on both the HealthCorps website and the Road of Life children’s cancer prevention website. He is on the Medical Advisory Board of both organizations.
Dr. Seibel has written and performed songs for numerous medical associations, not-for-profit organizations, and corporations. His animated composition for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Making A Baby Takes Time, won a national Consumer Education Award. Some of the other organizations and companies he has written songs for include the American Cancer Society, the Jimmy Fund, The National Sleep Foundation, The Red Hot Mamas, Barr Pharmaceuticals, Unilever, Unipath, the Anti-Defamation League, and Inverness Medical Innovations. His songs have also been commissioned by PR agencies and industry for launches and to create public awareness. Seibel uses his extensive medical knowledge, life experience, and tune-crafting ability to create specific, targeted songs that cut a medical subject down to its basics, raise consciousness, and make worrisome subjects fun.
In addition to HealthRock®, Seibel composes a wide range of non-health related music and lyrics through Vineyard Sound Publishing. Genres include children’s songs, jazz, cabaret, gospel, country, pop and hip hop totaling three music CDs, three musical scores with lyrics and dozens of additional songs.
